Slow Me Down

Days are fleeting. Relationships are messy. Time is scarce. The heart is deceitful. Grace is deceptively simple and undeniably difficult. Mistakes are made. Bodies are weary. Pride creeps in, along with doubt. Longings arise. The unexpected becomes the norm. The norm surprises you. Peace is in sight but out of reach. Everything is ordered yet chaotic. 

Life.
God is good, but sometimes I run out of words. So I turn to His. Hope this refreshes your soul as much as it did mine. 

Psalm 51:10-12, 15-17 Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from your presence, & take not your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit...O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth with declare your praise. For you will not delight in sacrifice, or I would give it; you will not be pleased with a burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise. 

2 Corinthians 4:7-12 But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us. We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies. For we who live are always being given over to death for Jesus' sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. So death is at work in us, but life in you. 

2 Corinthians 12:9-10 But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

We all know those people that are good at holding it all together.  Life seems to go well for them. Sure, they may be a little stressed now and then, but they've got it all pretty much figured out. They are living the best they can and making out pretty well. Even when things go wrong, they are skilled at putting it back together. Waiting on Sunday

Today, a friend asked, "So, how do you feel right now?"  Where to begin.... Overwhelmed.  Inspired.  Skeptical.  Really old & really young. (How is that even possible?) Like I'm on the verge of a breakthrough but still know nothing. Grateful for wise counsel.  Wondering how to sort through possibilities. Scared. Anxious. Excited. Breathless. Desperately wanting to trust God in every moment. Basically,  I'm a ridiculous mess of "WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN MY LIFE RIGHT NOW, GOD?"  At times I feel like I have the whole world at my feet, that there are endless possibilities in my life, and that I am FREE. Other times I feel that I'm stuck in a rut, that I will be paralyzed by options, and that there's no real direction in my life.  While there are a few times that I get a radiant glimpse of His brilliance and understand that God is working out the details of my life, most of the time, I just don't know which way is

I Left My Heart in Southeast Asia...

One of our English Camps! I love when people ask me what I did over Christmas break, because I actually have something exciting to say. “Oh, I spent my break in Southeast Asia,” usually gets some good conversation going. And the best part of those conversations is that I get to share about how God is good, faithful, and at work changing lives! But just like those conversations, I have no way of fitting everything into a blog, so I’ll try to hit some important points. My American & Khmer sisters - Lak, Leakhena, & Anna       Saying goodbye at the airport Going back to this Asian country for the second time was even more amazing that I could have expected. I absolutely loved reconnecting with old friends and seeing how their lives have changed. And speaking of changed lives, it was incredible to see the lives of new believers!
